Our New Plantings….
On 2nd September 2006, a further 4.5 acres were planted to Pinot Gris, Viognier and Traminer. This followed over 2 years of soil preparation and nutrient build up through the planting of various ‘cover crops’. The vineyard was perfectly prepared and the weather for planting was sensational – a pleasant 25 degrees with plenty of sunshine, although the lack of winter rain was a concern. Liquid Lounge members rolled up together with family and friends and to our amazement the 4,350 vines were planted before lunch. What an effort!!
The following day we were blessed with some showers followed by 150mm of rain over the next week. A perfect start for our precious rootlings. Hopefully we have ideal growing conditions through 2006/2007 so that by 2009 we are handcrafting some new RidgeView wines. A special thank you from the Scott family to all those who participated in the planting day – I know they enjoyed the celebrations afterwards!!
